So UNVOGUE: New Music from Mira Veda

Indo-soul recording artist Mira Veda will release her first single, “Captivated”, digitally on July 30th, 2010. The breathy, middle eastern inspired R&B and soul track is the first single off of Veda’s upcoming self released, sophomore album In Love Again due October 10, 2010. In Love Again, which was recorded in both India and the United States , is Veda’s follow up album to her 2003 debut Infinite Love.
The San Francisco based recording artist drew upon her Indian heritage to infuse her R&B and soul sound with traditional and modern Indian influences and spice. To create the unique sound and balance her international influences on “Captivated”, Veda wrote and recorded the single with producers Carvin Haggins and Ivan Barias from Karma Productions (Jill Scott, Will Smith, Jazmine Sullivan), in their Philadelphia studio.
“Working with Karma productions was a truly gratifying experience”, says Veda. “We set up in their studio in Philly and wrote and recorded every day, all day until we could achieve that certain magic, which I think came around midnight one night when we found that sexy blend of words, sound and rhythm”.
Other producers on In Love Again include Paula Gallitano (Dr. Dre, Lalah Hathaway, LL Cool J); Logan James, formerly from “American Idol” fame; Karsh Kale and Gaurav Raina, with who she recorded with in her native India ; and Mixman Shawn, an Indian Punjabi rapper and producer. Although the album has an eclectic mix of musical styles and collaborators, In Love Again is anchored in Veda’s R&B sensibilities.
“Captivated” is currently available digitally on iTunes, Amazon, eMusic, Shockhound and Zune among other digital retailers. Please visit www.mirasmusic.com for music, including “Captivated” and up to date tour schedule and information.

Long Lost Editorial: Man-Eater

This editorial was originally shot for the 3rd Annual Men’s Issue, which was slated to launch in June 2010. The issue was stalled as we opted to continue out hiatus until September. This story was so good, we couldn’t allow it to go to waste. So here is Man-Eater shot by Carlos Arias (www.carlosariasphotograpy.com), styled by our EIC K.Tyson Perez in March 2010.

We apologize but the new version of the magazines cannot be viewed in Internet Explorer Browsers. They are coded using html and a modern plugin and IE can’t handle anything modern. We advise you to switch to a more modern browser such as Firefox, Google Chrome or Apple Safari and then come back to check us out.

So UNVOGUE: Diesel Black & Gold For Men

Men’s Milan Fashion Week may be long gone, but check out this unique video featuring Diesel’s Black Gold collection and UK electro-indie rockers, These New Puritans.

The Diesel Black Gold man is a city rebel. Military uniforms are reworked into tough outerwear. Conversely, knitwear takes inspiration from vintage undergarments. Protective gear features detachable plastrons of leather vests that gleam with metal hardware. Shirts for daytime and evening also glitter with carapaces of sequins or metallic applications. Techno-voile adds an unexpected poetry to jackets, shirts, knitwear and sneakers. Denim for men is slim-fit, but occasionally shows off this season’s new drop crotch. Tones have the grey or green cast of battledress while a layer of resin is applied on the light Japanese cloth denim.
